NewsX is a Community Interest Company (CIC), which means the priority for everything we do has to be news, and not profit. As a community, our purpose is to inform and educate, providing editorial content people want to read by using powerful storytelling. As a CIC, income from the sale of content is used for the benefit of the community, which means generating news, and not profit. Having a CIC as a separate legal identity ensures the continuity of the organisation's founding principles when management eventually changes. CIC directors are obliged to prioritise the community, and assets can only be transferred to another similar community. The regular updates CICs have to provide by law mean transparency for the community and media partners. We have dedicated professionals in our team who depend on each other to make the right decisions. Instead of creating hierarchies, our team manages itself, with freedom to experiment and with the results then being shared for the benefit of all. Mistakes are admitted to and learned from to make the team stronger, with newcomers given training and guidance so that they too can grow to become valuable additions to the NewsX team. They can, in turn, bring on new people and foster more NewsX communities.
